No I haven't (manly because I have so few submissions) I feel bad for anyone who has had their hard work stolen.
I would be pretty broken up if anyone ever tried to take credit for my most precious drawing.
A few cases of icon theft, a few pics (a lot of this was on neopets, LOL)... one case of impersonation (apparently, someone on gaia's RL friend claimed to have drawn one of my pics). I was alerted to them, though. ;
Then I heard there was a site full of stolen art, and had a few of my pics on it.. the person who told me said she lost the link. x; (she also thought that I had stolen from that site)
Yes, but it was a really weird situation. It was an adult piece (just nudity, with a slight S & M theme....) and the girl only changed the head of one character...put in a different head...she did this to several other pics, and posted them to the group I was on with the other artist whose pic she altered. I didn't yell or nothing...I just said something to the effect of it would be nice if you ask the artist permission first before you make changes, especially with us being on the same group. And I said I liked my version better, since I thought it worked better with Adora in the pic, rather than SHe-ra. (Which is the same person...just you know...She-ra is the super heroine version of Adora.) I think that girl quit the group after that, she never said anything, and never posted anything again.
The only other thing which...I don't know if it qualifies...was having a fued with someone who insults me on another board, yet asks me to draw pictures, thinking I wouldn't know what was said elsewhere. Later on, she had her own group, and she kept taking my pictures to post them, and admitting she's a thief, she takes what she likes. It was flattering in a way, since I always get a small thrill that anyone could like something I did well enough to save a copy for themselves. Even funnier, we later made up and became pals! ;-p So I haven't really had anything stressful like a lot of artists who become art theft victims do. I don't think most people notice or care about my pics to want 'em! *sheepish look*
A long time ago there was an incident where someone copied a picture of my work and then claimed it as their own and that the original idea was theres. While some things were changed, the pose and everything else were copied exactly, just in his style, which still contitutes copying in my opinion.
The nerve of this guy was actually when he argued with me over it when I confronted him and it just so happened I was a member of the same site and he didn't know it. He actually stood his ground and swore that he didn't copy. And then when I whipped out the original that was also dated, he sure shut his mouth in a hurry and tried to save face by apologizing to me. He was pretty hesitant to do so however, and I feel that if it hadn't had happened publically, that he wouldn't have apologized.
I know he did it to spite me, because I did have a brief conversation with him before. So to act like he doesn't know me or who I am, proves the malicious intent.
So while the overall result wasn't as bad as the same thing happening here res on DA, the feeling was.
Don't forget to date your pictures often or all the time people. If I hadn't, this guy could have easily claimed I'm the one who copied him. Although, that wouldn't have been as easy to do, since everyone had already seen my pictu
No, I've never had art stolen from me, (Not that I know of), but somthing related happened, Involving Me, A sprite maker, and some kid in Kentucky (I think)
Anyway, The sprite maker (Blueray's his online name) made a sprite comic for a school project...Yadda yadda... One of the sprites (Owned by him) happened to be in my sprite comic, Chronicles of Hyrule. Apparantly, after he presented, one of the kids came up to Blueray and said he saw the sprite in my comic (The sprite was, Ironically enough, A living milk carton. XD) and wanted to know if Blueray stole it. O_o
That's the closest thing to Stolen art I've been involved with.
